Doggie Excitement!

Auntie Jessica just gets a kick out of watching Lilah play with the dogs... Lilah is in that stage where she reaches for everything... and I mean EVERYTHING! She especially loves the doggies! And Sid and Hagan are so good with her! She grabs their head, ears, fur, etc and tries to pull it/them towards her mouth! Anything and everything she grabs goes into that mouth of hers! And she screams and shakes with excitement once she gets a hold of those dogs! It's hilarious!

Back to her old self...

Our little rolly-polly is back to her old self again! She's happy as can be and playing and laughing and as alert as ever! She just loves her baby gym now, and is especially fond of the chicken (see last picture)... she's happy and healthy!

Lilah's last day in the hospital...

Here is her lip on her last day! Talk about a drastic improvement!

Lilah got to go home on Friday night at around 5:00pm... after following a wild goose chase around town to find a Rite Aid pharmacy that could fill all 3 prescriptions, we settled in at home. Chris's mom and I immediately got to work by washing everything Lilah has had contact with in hot water, and we sterilized everything. She has to take antibiotics orally for 8 days, have ointment put into her nose for 7 days to make sure she doesn't inhale MRSA again, and then give her tubbies (baths) every night for 2 weeks with an antibacterial body wash. All in all, I'd say she made out pretty well! She's such a trooper, and is so brave! I think mommy cried more during this whole situation than baby did! Mommy and daddy are just excited and relieved to have her home! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!

Lilah - Hospital Day 3

Some new pictures shortly of the drastic improvement in Lilah's face... last night after the expression she had some more antibiotics and the infection is close to being taken care of. She just has a small area of red on her face now where the cellulitis has settled and her lip is already healing quite nicely. She's not swollen... if she is, I can't tell...
She does, in fact, have a staph infection... just waiting to see if it is MRSA... which we are hoping its not. She will be here through tomorrow at least.

Lilah - Hospital Day 2

Lilah napping...
The swelling had gone down quite a bit overnight... that black mark on her face is pen used by the doctor to mark where the swelling was the night before.
How her face looked later in the day before they came to drain her lip...
Prior to the drainage... the infection moved down from her eye but was sitting in her lip with no where to go.
Post-drain... this was what it looked like after being drained.
She's still in great spirits!

Her bed... :-(
Mommy's bed :-(
Yesterday (Wednesday) the infection was slowly draining out of her face. The antibiotics were working, just moving slowly. The infection drained from her left eye down to her lip where it collected. Her lip swelled up quite a bit. An oral surgeon was brought in last night to make a small incision on her lip and express the liquid and pus that was in there. After the expression, her lip went down dramatically! It looks bad in the picture but it looks great to mommy and daddy! She's still in great spirits... laughs, smiles, talks and plays. She's not effected mood-wise at all... I think if anything she's just frustrated that she can't put her left hand in her mouth! We're still waiting for the culture results...

Lilah - Hospital Day 1

Lilah was admitted to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital on Tuesday, September 9th. She had a white-head pimple on her upper lip that showed up on Sunday and just progressively got larger and more irritated. By Tuesday morning her lip was swollen, very red, and the left side of her face was swollen. I (Jody) took her to Prompt Care where they expressed the pimple, pushed out all of the unwanted liquid and then sent us home with antibiotics. In a matter of 3 hours Lilah got worse. The left side of her face swelled up even more and her left eye was closing due to the swelling. We took her back to the doctor where they asked us to come here to the hospital and have her admitted. After waiting 5 hours in an ER room (thankfully we got a room and didn't have to wait in the waiting room), and having her blood drawn 3 times plus having an IV put in, we were transported to our own room.
Lilah was put into isolation because her white blood cell count was at 27,000 when it should have been at 10,000. This basically meant that she had a very serious infection going on. The doctor was 99% sure that it was a staph infection. Cultures were taken and blood was drawn and sent out... now we wait.
