On Friday, July 3rd, our Grandpa Joseph passed away due to kidney failure. Please see the letter below from my father:
Joyce's father of 59 years, Joseph Xavier Vukovich, "JX" as we was commonly known, age 88, passed into Heaven this morning, July 3rd, about 9:30 a.m. after a short, but intense hospitalization for kidney failure. In short, he was "just too tired to go on"...especially now that he was having to undergo dialysis 4 times a week. Needless to say his immediate survivors, Joyce, Joyce's sister Mary Jane Corpuz and her family and I are completely heartbroken but inspired by his courageous efforts to live the highest quality of life possible while dealing with old age and kidney failure.
We would like to request that no flowers or other gifts be sent (as I know is the tradition in some families), but we would like it if the next time you consider a charitable contribution, that you consider the Kidney Foundation as one of your options on behalf of or in tribute to "J.X. Vukovich." They do great work and further research toward the underlying causes of kidney failure and continue to reach out to the community at large to seek donors for the millions of people on transplant waiting lists.
Thanks to each of you for your kindness to Joe over the years. He had a wonderful memory and every time your name would come up in a casual conversation, Joe would always share an experience that he held dear from meeting and being with you, even if it was just a short time. He lived a good life, provided for his family, was a caring and loving father and he was an honorable man as well. I feel fortunate to have been his son-in-law and I learned many of life's lessons from him as his his friend over the last 37 years that I've known Joyce.
We all will miss him terribly. Best wishes to each of you and May God Bless You! On behalf of Joyce, Jackie, Jody & Jessica, Mary Jane and her husband Ron and their daughters Chloe and Ali, & myself.

I am so sorry Jody to hear about your grandpa. I pray you all have comfort knowing he is no longer sick. As you may know I work in the world of transplant with the people who have died and are kept on life support bc their families decided to make them organ donors. Know I will keep your granfather in my mind when I am finding recipiants and hope you all get back to being happy soon. xoxo
